How to Decorate a Soul Crushing Office...

Have you wver worked in a cold cubicle or office job?

Okay so I used to sell insurance. Not a nod to insurance agents but it wasn’t exactly what I was born to do. That was one of very few jobs working in a cubicle. Let me tell you, it was not nearly as bad as another cubicle job I worked; but I did a couple things that made me feel less… steril.

I’m here to help you make that job more bearable. Because we all know chances are were working for someone else's dream. There’s a cap to the interest we share about the job and if we let it… It can doom us to a depressive state only relieved by Friday afternoons. The key is your surroundings and what you see…

  1. Let’s set up a motivational paragraph. Try finding something that is a couple sentences long. Here’s the thing: one sentence motivational quotes seem generic. Listening to someone we respect creating a Train of thought that is uplifting helps us read that and escape whenever its getting to be too much. I suggest printing or taking an exerpt out of a magazine article and framing it nicely on your desk!

  2. Art. I know, I know a little biased here. I’m not going to sell you my art persay but if you like it welll……

Buy A piece that takes you away to a place where you feel fulfilled. A place that makes you excited! It could be a landscape, an abstract piece, a portrait that inspires your character! Having something visually pleasing creates an inner joy and escapism we all need from time to time. That's why art never loses trend.

  3. Figurines! I love looking back into my childhood (alot of my art focuses heavily on nostalgia) because it was a time where I was present. I didn’t worry too much and I lived in the moment.

Three simple ways to uplift the dreary feeling of sitting in a cubicle. I know i’ve been there. One last tip?

At night when the kids are in bed, the husband, roommate or (whoever) is asleep; dedicate 5 to 15 minutes to start working on a passion project. This gives you something to look forward to in the day. Something that is ONLY yours.
