Welcome to my Art Studio!
If you came from my newsletter…. You’re a REAL one!
Here’s a more detailed look into my workspace…
Whenever I alternate into a new medium (ex:acrylics, oils or watercolor) I do an overhaul to cater to that specifically. That means i’ll strip everything off the table surface that doesnt help facilitate it.
When ever I do acrylic inks I used a special water jar for it along with brushes, palette and canvas or paper. I don’t intermingle my art supplies because that can damage your brushes or materials.
I’ve been working with watercolors lately (which happen to be one of my favorite art supplies of all time) so everything on the table serves that purpose!
Books BOOKS Books…
Art books are a great way to get inspiration and sharpen up your skills! My favorites right now are a The Art of Mary Blair and Light and Color!
James Gurney has AWESOME books too; like Imaginary Realism.
I keep color pencils close to me when I want to create texture and fine details!
A spray bottle is always needed to refresh your dry palette and even create cool effects on the watercolor paper!
Unto the Drawers!
My first drawer (starting left to right) holds my watercolor paper. I love cold pressed Arches paper for watercolor! If you look closely at a finished piece there is a beautiful texture you get the helps tell the story of the brush work!
My second drawer down holds my packaging supplies. I keep stickers, thank you cards, mailers and tapes; to give my collectors the best packaging experience I can!
I hope to increase your certificates that double as mini art prints in the future!
Next; the middle drawer holds Arches papers and a matt cutting board for easy access to start a new painting. Also, a little tan sketch book for practice drawings.
On my top right drawer I keep all my watercolor and gouache paints! Its a great way to store them in a cool dark place while having quick access to any color I want!
Next drawer down i keep mini aceos I’ve created which I like to give out randomly as surprises with orders! I also keep mat frames and boards for packaging 📦
Also some handmade green paper!
Last but not least is my junk drawer!
I like to keep paints and brushes handy that I don’t usually use but might need at some point in a painting.
Oh! And Dorlands Wax Sealant which I’ve been experimenting to try and create mounted sealed watercolor paintings for you guys! Stick around to see how that come out!
That's a Wrap!
So of course I also have more supplies that I use sparingly, as well as a whole side of a corner that needs serious organizing! But this is the heart of my little studio where the work gets done!
Currently I'm practicing practicing practicing my watercolors. As Tim Packer (professional and great artist) says; im in process mode. Learning techniques and processes to create the type of finished work i want to put out!
Thanks for all your support! If you’d like to see timelapse and process photos of my work check out my Patreon!
Until next time; have a blessed day!
